ANOTHER SCHOOL SEX ABUSE CASE OF INTEREST TO THE NORMAN NATION: GEORGE HARRIS, 1973 FROSH-SOPH WATER POLO COACH, ACCUSED OF SEX ABUSE AT EL SEGUNDO HIGH. 

George Harris, a former Beverly Hills High School (BHHS) water polo coach in the 1970's, has been accused in a recent civil lawsuit of sexual misconduct by three former team members who allege the misconduct occurred between 2002 and 2009 while Harris served as a water polo coach at El Segundo High School.  

Harris began employment in the El Segundo Unified School District in 1981 right around the time that Hank Friedman (biology teacher and football/baseball coach at BHHS during the 1970's) was indicted for sexual misconduct involving multiple students and fired from his job at BHHS.  See attached news article about Harris at El Segundo High School and photo from the 1973 Watchtower Yearbook.  Students accuse former El Segundo water polo coach of sexual abuse (yahoo.com)

The allegations and lawsuit against Harris provide another example of why it is so important for schools, in general, and BHHS, in particular, to adopt and implement best practices with respect to adult sexual misconduct.
