The illustration to this petition is reproduced by kind permission of Howl Associates. They were the Practice commissioned to prepare the scheme, which was well received and formed the basis of a Special Planning Document (SPD) relating to the use of the Bridge Street site.

The Planning Application for the proposed development on Bridge Street is considered by a significant number of people of Stourport to be wrong for the location. Also that it doesn't provide the mixed uses promised when the site was "Purchased" all those years ago.

It will block the view and promised pedestrian access to the much loved basin instead of opening up a development that will serve local people and tourists and be an asset in keeping with the Town's Heritage.

There are a lot of good things that have happened in Stourport over recent years to improve the Town's attractiveness for locals and visitors. We now have good venues for eating and entertainment and need a use for the temporary car park site to continue that improvement. To help to drive a development that will improve our Town we need your help.

This application has attracted well over 400 comments on the Planning website to date but we need to let the Planning Committee and District Council in general know how unsatisfactory the proposals are. To do this we need to get as many signatures as possible on this petition. To get our feelings considered we need nearly 1000 people to sign it but only have until the 15th of June to do so.
