Accelerated Reading Program Policy

Dear Wyoming County Parents,
As the end of the school year draws near, we would like you to take some time and consider joining us in asking the Wyoming County Board of Education to reconsider its policy on the Accelerated Reading program. Wyoming County is the only county in the state that permits for a letter grade to be given for Accelerated Reader. This letter grade also factors into GPA, which has negatively impacted students in the past. We would like to see this change take effect for the 2018-2019 school year.
We, as parents, understand good reading skills are crucial to a student’s success; however, we do not feel as though it is necessary to give an additional grade for reading when there is no set time during the school day to allow students to read AR books or test on completed books. If you agree that letter grades for this program need to be terminated, please help us to express this concern to the BOE by signing our petition and including the important information needed to present the petition to the BOE.
We would like to have 1000 signatures by August 1, 2018! Help us make this happen by sharing after you sign!
