The Issue

*UPDATE 2014 OCT*

An application has been made to change the nags head into flats please object to this by logging into the planning page and submitting an objection this is not good news and it's just what some had feared wousd happen.

__________

The Nags Head faces closure as a music Venue for good.  A planning application from Salma Uddin has been put in for a change of use from a public house to a hotel. The conversion proposes 11 bedrooms with one staff bedroom. And parking.

This venue was an important hub and community focal point for musicians of all ages and levels and many have launched careers from here, High Wycombe needs this venue; Live Music is struggling at the moment, surely the council can see this and work with the community rather than against it! Lets not loose another music venue. The licencing Law surrounding Music has been relaxed so this is no longer an issue that made it hard for landlords in the past. Noise was only a major problem after a temporary landlord ruined the place, noise was dealt with and managed properly for over 3 years with no major problems. It would be such a shame for the council to allow the pillaging of such a legendary venue. The change of use will probably result in more noise and anti - social behaviour than before! Does wycombe really NEED another Hotel after all

We have just had a new Travelodge built!

QUOTES FROM SUPPORTERS:

If Wycombe loses the Nags Head as a music venue we as the older generation of musicians and music lovers will feel a great sense of loss considering how much history and love the very debate going on at the moment has generated.
The other side is that there is little to offer the up and coming generation of young muscians who need venues like The Nags Head to hone their skills.
The Nags Head is an iconic music venue we must keep it as that, and let the management team who are ready and waiting to manage it in a professional way do just that. Please support the Nags. Andy Spivey

This is seriously bad, let's hope the press will make a fight for the Nags too. This is Wycombe's heritage!!! When Tom Alderton relaunched in 2007 he awoke a great spirit within both musicians and music lovers. This spirit resides in these venues and we must fight and support to keep them alive. There is a PUBLIC review on the 17th September at 10am. Lets ALL attend and show the Licensing bodies we need them and the Police and the Council to STAND WITH US and NOT AGAINST US....sorry for shouting a bit but all parties need to work togther to keep a good strong local community and economy thriving. Wycombe doesn't have much else! by: Alan J Hedgecock The Bell Vue Pub
