Re-open the Carl Leeper case

The Issue

In 2003, Carl Leeper was convicted of robbery.  Pat Brake, who implicated Carl, has recanted his testimony.  The witness who identified Carl had positively idenitified another person a few months earlier.  This witness did not recall making two separate identifications.  The police collected fingerprints and a video from the scene of the crime.  The eyewitness testified that she identified Carl from the video. The police detective testified that he could not see the perpetrator's face from the video.  The video was never introduced as evidence; nor were the fingerprints. Now, the police and prosecution claim that both items of evidence are lost.

Please sign the petiton requesting the Wayandotte County, KS District Attorney re-open this case. Specifically, we are asking for polygraphs of Carl and his wife (who was home with Carl the night of the robbery) and Pat Brake. If they all pass, the DA should consider that Carl may have been wrongfully convicted. Carl's sentence ends in 2024.

What if he is innocent?
