YouTube: Ban Betta Fish Fighting Videos

The Issue

Bettas Fight to the Death

Look up "Betta Fish fighting" on YouTube, and you will unfortunately find many videos. These videos depict two male Bettas placed together in a small glass bowl where they inevitably go after each other, until either one or both dies from their injuries. 

The people who create these videos do so for their own entertainment, and views, with no regard to the well-being of the Bettas. They can be heard laughing and even betting money on the victor.

Also known as Siamese Fighting Fish, Bettas are intelligent and beautiful fish who can recognize their owners and sometimes do a welcoming dance. They are very responsive to human interaction.

Betta Fish fighting is animal abuse, and should not be promoted. YouTube is a public platform for people to create funny or informational content and should not encourage or condone abuse of fish or any other animals.
