After dedicating 100 years to the operation of the Panama Canal, we, former families living in the Canal Zone, known as Zonians, have not forgotten our Panamanian neighbors. In answer to a request from Panama for our attention to their needy causes, we took on the writing of this petition. Our interest is strictly to help the needy of Panama who seem to be overlooked in the causes listed below in this petition. While certain areas have advanced greatly, the poor people are left behind. We feel that there is a gulf in what has been done and what needs to be done for the poor citizens of Panama. Thus we are trying to highlight these problems:

1. Lack of garbage pick-up in the cities.
2. New and improved roads into the interior. Farmers need to get their produce to market.
3. New and improved schools and school supplies.
4. Health provisions, including medicines, for the poor. 
5. Fair wages for the working man and woman.
6. By presenting this petition to the Panamanian government we hope that their dignitaries will allow grave consideration to the plight of the poor people of Panama; Long remembered in our hearts.
