The Issue

I am now retired 69 (ill health) my wife is also disabled and is my only support and carer she is 59 and medically retired. Spinal surgery (severe curvature) Recently this government made changes to the benefits system.

Primarily to level up the pension retirement age. changes that men and women should retire at the same age. Fixed retirement at 65 scrapped so if you are well enough you can carry on. but how many people doing hard work are counting the days to retirement (burnt out) I have been contacted by so many couples who have used all their savings and are getting into serious debt

A means-tested benefit called universal credit is totally unthinkable for pensioners to be subjected to. To much state control already!!!!!

There is cross-party support for its re-in statement of mixed-age couples pension credit, any right-minded person would realise, this should never have slipped through the net.

Like the W.A.S.P.I. campaign, no notice was given to prepare for any sort of change and at the very least any change should have been discussed openly in our House of Commons.

If this government continues to erode the Legacy Benefits of our senior citizens we will need more than food banks. (UK pension provision lowest in Europe). So what do we do .??.  We should Send a clear message by signing this petition. here on change.org  and by doing something we will effect change.

The government's concern is if one of the couples retired at 69 and their partner is say 59 the younger should work, but most younger partners are carers, and being disabled also,

they and their partners would no longer be able to afford to support partners losing at least £7000 per year.
