The elephants and leopards of Sri Lanka are under threat of extinction by human conflict, resulting in death in large numbers, one almost every day. The numbers of these animals are dwindling due to mass deforestation in the name of development, and the destruction of important elephant corridors that act as passages for the elephants to move in between territories.

The leopards of Sri Lanka are dying by getting entrapped in human snares that are supposedly created for other animals. Moving into animal territories and forests for agriculture and farming, along with creating roads and other infrastructure is resulting in these animals moving out ot their territories as they have no more forest land. Deforestation and destruction of forests has brought leopards, elephants and even peacocks to the main roads, where they are at risk of being run over by other vehicles.

This is our plea to ask all animal rights activists and animal lovers to join hands and sign this petition so this topic can receive more signatures and reach a larger audience. Together we can help save the beautiful animals and fauna of Sri Lanka and in turn save the earth and balance our eco system. Let us put a ban to deforestation and help save these animals from extinction; they deserve to live free in the wild.
