Bring Awareness To The Ongoing Pangolin Crisis

The Issue

Pangolins are in the middle of a poaching and trafficking crisis. We must take action to end the illegal trade of pangolin products.

Over one million pangolins were lost to poaching in a decade. And last year alone, the scales from 195,000 pangolins were seized by anti-trafficking law enforcers worldwide. They're headed toward extinction if we don't come together to save them.

Despite an international ban on trade of all pangolins and their products, pangolins are still being poached in Asia and Africa and their parts are being sold around the world via the internet. They're coveted for their meat and scales in Asia, and their skin is used in leather products like bags, boots, and belts around the world, including in the US. NEVER buy a pangolin product. If the buying stops, the killing can too. As a result, all eight species are endangered and protected by the countries they inhabit, as well as under CITES—the international wildlife trade law.

Pangolins are very easy for poachers to take, as their defense mechanism is to roll into a ball; this makes it too easy for a person to pick them up and take them.

WWF is working hard to protect the pangolins already, but they need as much support as they can get. Send this to people to make them aware of this crisis. We need to help the pangolins.
