Write your Representative in Congress to support the Tongass!

The Issue

The Tongass National Forest, the world's largest temperate rainforest, is under the constant threat of clearcutting. In the past 20 years the Forest Service has spent 1 BILLION of your tax dollars subsidizing the timber industry, building roads into pristine watersheds and old growth stands, and clearcutting the best of the best.

The time is now to create change and protect this vast wilderness with 9 million roadless acres still without protection.

Please commit to write to your congressional representatives about the Tongass. There is a chance to get Roadless protection extended to the Tongass in the next couple of years, as well as a chance to eliminate the taxpayer derived subsidy for the destruction.

Ask your congressperson to eliminate roadbuilding subsidies for the Tongass, and to work to ensure the Roadless Rule applies to ALL national forests, including the Tongass.
