Cleaner air in Johnstown Wrexham

The Issue

Johnstown landfill, used to dump the waste from Merseyside residents, has been stinking for quite some time. Many years ago a solicitor was appointed to try and deal with the issues of fumes emanating from the site but in recent years the smell has returned. On certain days the smell can be detected as far as the top of Pen Y Cae.
Something needs to be done about the smell. For the mental and physical health of those living in the vicinity having to endure days, weeks, months and years of polluted rancid smelling air. The vulnerable amongst us and those who are unable to leave their homes are the most affected, is this fair that babies, the elderly and the infirm are having to live with this day in day out without a break from it while visiting other areas?

I believe that many in the area have become accustomed to it, or have never known life without the smell when it comes to the younger generation. But do you remember when living rural was seen as healthy? People had clean air to breathe, people visited villages and would comment about how fresh everywhere smelled. Many would talk on tv about how they would love to live a rural life, but this is far from that idyllic view. Do we want the next generation to know nothing but polluted air?

Please sign this petition to try and give Wrexham county council a kick to tackle this issue once and for all. As a group we are stronger!

Thanks
