Justice for wrestler Sushil Kumar, 2 times Olympic Medal Winner

The Issue

Justice for Sushil Kumar to get into Rio Olympics 2016 after having fair trials.

Sushil Kumar is an Indian freestyle wrestler. Competing in the 66 kg weight division he won the 2010 world title, a silver medal at the 2012 London Olympics and a bronze medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, which made him the first Indian to win back to back individual Olympic medals. But since the weight divisions were rejigged by the world body , Sushil has moved up to 74kg division.

Narsingh another player, had secured the Olympic quota place for India last year at the World Championship in Las Vegas after winning a bronze in 74kg category. He had participated at the 2012 London Olympics in 74kg category but was ousted in the first round.

Now when there are two contenders in the same category so Sushil Kumar is asking for the trials and may the best player win and represent India in Rio Olympics 2016 which is fair enough.

In an interview Sushil said "I have been away from my family for almost a year now. My only focus is on Rio and I have been working extremely hard. It is only just that I am given a chance. All I am asking for is trails. I am not saying that you send me to Rio because of my glorious past. I am only saying that whoever between me and Narsingh is better, should represent the country at the Olympics."

As a common man or as a sports person, I think the point Sushil is saying is fair for both of them and WFI & IOA should go for trials for 74 kg. category. Sushil is still training at Sonepat's SAI centre.

In last few years such trials has already taken place in India if there are more then 1 contenders in single category for Olympics. Such trial happens in every country for Olympics. I think we need the best person to represent our country at the Rio Olympics and Sushil Kumar should be given a fair chance to get selected.

I request you all to support for justice to Sushil Kumar.
