M Frans started this petition to Worthing Borough Council

Despite Worthing & Adur Councils declaring a climate emergency in July 2019, and 37 registered objections to the planning application, the councils are allowing the destruction of 47 mature trees.

Two of these trees have Tree Preservation Orders (TPOs), which are supposed to protect them (more info).

These trees are located at the site of the old Sussex Clinic, Shelley Road, Worthing.

Link to the planning application: https://planning.adur-worthing.gov.uk/online-applications/simpleSearchResults.do?action=firstPage The website does not make it very clear that these trees are part of this application.

With wildlife rapidly declining and an urgent need to protect our environment, the council must insist that the plans for this site are redesigned. New plans should ensure that all, or at least the vast majority of, these trees remain standing. It is simply irresponsible and not acceptable to remove and replace them with soft landscaping.
