To afford the oppurtunity to the WWE Superstar known as 'Goldust', to compete for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship

The Issue

#Gold4Goldie

Goldust is the son of wrestling legend multi-promotional Hall of Famer "The American Dream," Dusty Rhodes. Goldust began his career wrestling under the name 'Dustin Rhodes' with the WWF/WWE (World Wrestling Federation/Entertainment) with his father as a tag tem from 1990 through 1991 when they both left WWF/WWE.

At which time, Dustin would continue his career with World Championship Wrestling (WCW) while still under the ringname 'Dustin Rhodes.' He performed under WCW from 1991-1995. Dustin would have another stint with WCW from 1999-2001.

Upon his return to WWF/WWE in 1995, the 'Goldust' character was born, dubbed "the bizarre one." Goldust would remain Dustin's primary ring name in the WWF/WWE to this day in stints from 1995-1999, 2001-2003, 2008-2010 and back again from 2013 to the present.

In such a time, Goldust has amassed many championship accolades with the WWE and WCW.

1-Time NWA World Tag Team Champion
2-Time WCW United States Heavyweight Champion
1-Time WCW World Six-Man Tag Team Champion
2-Time WCW World Tag Team Champion
1-Time WWE World Tag Team Champion
2-Time WWE Tag Team Champion
9-Time WWF Hardcore Champion
3-Time WWF/WWE Intercontinental Champion

Despite these great accomplishment and accolades, at age 45, Goldust has never attained the greatest accomplishment of 'gold' in regards to his namesake. It's becoming abundantly clear that Goldust is in the twilight of his career. Not too many superstars (ever) have been an every week kind of performer into their mid-forties, much less at a high level every night.

It's at this hour of his career, many feel it is unlikely Goldust will ever be afforded the oppurtunity to fight for the biggest prize in the business.

After overcoming personal demons, Goldust has been continuing to pursue his passion in wrestling. Maybe it's the desire for the underdog. Maybe it's pursuit of redemption or maybe it's about giving a man the oppurtunity that 25 years of blood, sweat and tears affords him.

"If George Forman can shock the world to become World Heavyweight Champion at age 45, why not Goldust?"
