Emaline Rohoman started this petition to World Wildlife Fund

Around 20,000 African elephants are poached every year. Across their range, elephants are killed for their tusks, meat and skin. An estimated 100 African elephants are killed each day by poachers, leaving only 400,000 remaining.  Elephant numbers have dropped by 62% over the last decade, and they could be mostly extinct by the end of the next decade.
Elephants are running out of space and time. Before we know it they will be gone — unless we do something to stop the poaching and demand for ivory.
At Fleet primary school we care about the protection of animals and we want to make a difference to these beautiful animals.
Elephants play an important role in maintaining their habitat. They’re grazers and browsers, eating large amounts of vegetation every day – which helps shape the landscapes they live in.

We want to put a stop to this and are asking for your help to sign our petition. We need 100,000 signatures to send to the Africian government to help them see that this must stop at once and stronger laws must be enforced. Elephants must be protected.
