Sharon Needles, winner of the fourth season of Rupaul’s Drag Race, has been involved in racism and nazi scandals, including doing blackface multiple times and wearing an outfit with a swastika, made fatphobic jokes, been abusive to fans, and has encouraged/mocked suicide and self-mutilation. Recently, many fans have brought up their experiences with her being manipulative, abusive, and making fun of their mental health. 

Examples of these include, (TW: ED and self harm), encouraging an underage fan to “cut deeper”, and telling them when their horizontal cuts on their arm were done incorrectly because they are not vertical. As well as making insensitive comments to a fan at a meet and greet about their weight.

These comments have been made to people of many ages, but mainly teenagers. Anyone who makes jokes out of mental health, racism, and fatphobia at the expense of others should not be given a platform and shouldn’t be called a winner. The people who’ve seen or experienced Sharon’s words and actions can never be repaid for how it made them feel, but we can keep the same from happening to others. In a community where many go to feel loved and accepted, there is no room to have someone who makes people feel unwanted as a leader, spokesperson, or role model. We are asking that Sharon Needles’ title be revoked, and that she no longer appears on any WOW Presents content.
