An appeal to the World Health Organization (WHO)

Based on complaints sent by various Palestinian refugee camps in Lebanon to www.Shababeek.org which works on empowering young refugees in the media field, and on the making of public opinion in Palestinian refugee camps, we wish to inform you of the following:

�    There is an acute shortage of the required health care to tackle Corona virus in all Palestinian refugee camps in Lebanon, which are overseen by the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) and the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) .

�    Refugees suffer from an acute shortage of any required measures required to limit the spread of the epidemic in their camps.

�    The required procedures are hindered by the numerous parties that are supposed to follow the situation of refugees, as the UNRWA suffers from a financial crisis, and so does the PLO, and the presence of the Lebanese government is limited to coordination with two parties unable to carry out their tasks.

Based on the complaints we have received and continue to receive, we believe that we are ahead of a real catastrophe that the Palestinian refugee camps in Lebanon could face, considering that refugees have been suffering from an ongoing financial hardship for months and a weak response from all the concerned parties, which reduce their ability to take precautionary measures to protect themselves from the disease.

We kindly ask your esteemed organization, which is taking an active role in the face of the epidemic that has befallen on mankind, to give due and special attention to the fate of the refugees, who this disaster has added another catastrophe to their complex calamities, in the hope that our appeal will be met.

بناء على شكاوى من مختلف مخيمات اللاجئين الفلسطينيين في لبنان وصلت الى موقع شبابيك الالكتروني www.shababeek.org المعني بالتنمية الاعلامية وصناعة الراي العام في مخيمات اللاجئين الفلسطينيين نود افادتكم بما يلي :

ـ هناك نقص حاد الرعاية الصحية المطلوبة لمواجهة فايروس كورونا في عموم مخيمات اللاجئين الفلسطينيين لبنان الذين تتوزع الولاية عليهم بين منظمة التحرير الفلسطينية ووكالة غوث وتشغيل اللاجئين "الاونروا".

ـ يعاني اللاجئون من غياب فعلي للاجراءات المطلوبة للحد من انتشار الوباء في مخيماتهم .

ـ يعيق الاجراءات المطلوبة تعدد المرجعيات المفترض متابعتها لاوضاع اللاجئين حيث تعاني وكالة غوث وتشغيل اللاجئين الفلسطينيين "الاونروا" من ازمة مالية، وتمر منظمة التحرير الفلسطينية بازمة مماثلة، ويقتصر حضور الحكومة اللبنانية على التنسيق مع جهتين عاجزتين عن القيام بمهامهما.

وبناء على ما يصلنا من شكاوى نرى باننا امام كارثة حقيقية قد تشهدها مخيمات اللاجئين الفلسطينيين في لبنان التي يعاني اهلها من ضائقة مالية مستمرة منذ اشهر وضعف في استجابة الجهات المعنية بتسيير امور حياتهم الامر الذي يقلل من قدرتهم على الوقاية من المرض.

نرجو من منظمتكم الموقرة وهي تقوم بدور نشط في مواجهة الوباء الذي حل بالبشرية اعطاء الاهتمام اللازم والخاص لمصير اللاجئين الذين اضافت الجائحة مصيبة اخرى لمصائبهم المركبة وكلنا امل في ان تلاقي مناشدتنا الاستجابة .
