Petition updateWork with Yulin to end dog meat festival and trade.- A Message of Hope After the Yulin Dog Meat

The Yulin Dog Meat “Festival” has ended. But for those of us who love and fight for animals, the emotional weight lingers. It is difficult to witness such cruelty, year after year, and not feel despair.

But old habits die hard; it takes time and patience to create real and lasting change. Because of you, Duo Duo Project continues to be a light in the darkness. Your support has allowed us to stay on the ground in Yulin and other dog- and cat-eating cities for more than a decade.

In Yulin alone, as of this year, we have reached nearly 60,000 young people through our humane education and compassionate interactive experiences, made possible by the donations of our supporters. These kids are learning what it means to treat animals with kindness — and they are growing into adults who see dogs and cats as family, not food.

And our efforts are working. The “festival” is shrinking. When it first began, an estimated 10,000 dogs were killed for the “festival.” In recent years, approximately 3,000 dogs have been killed. Even one life lost to this horrific trade is too many.

Thank you for refusing to look away. Thank you for standing with us, even when it hurts. Thank you for believing — as we do — that this fight is worth it.

With your continued support, we’ll keep pressing forward. We’ll continue to educate, advocate, and save lives. And together, we will end the dog and cat meat trade — for good.

Thank you.

The Duo Duo Project Team

P.S.  Some positive news to share. One of our Yulin team members sent us a heartening social media post: a dog lover shared that his company celebrated the summer solstice with a joyful event — and proudly declared, “You don’t need dog meat to celebrate the summer solstice.” This is the kind of corporate leadership we could only dream of a few years ago.
