Since 2014, we have stayed in Yulin, 365 days a year, after each infamous dog meat festival is over. Sadly, the "festival" is around the corner again, 6-21.
In 2013, when Duo Duo Project was founded, we made a promise: to end the dog and cat meat trade in China.
We are very proud of what we have been doing since day one to keep our promise that we will not stop until this trade ends.
Here is a "look back" story to share:
In July 2017, a few days after the Yulin dog meat festival ended - when the cameras had left taking with them the glare of the spotlight and the foreign protesters had returned home - Duo Duo Project stayed.
We went to work helping local college-aged volunteers put on an event. Volunteers helped both kids and their parents better understand dog behavior, to help them overcome their fear of pet ownership.
We heard first-hand from many of the local people that they stopped eating dogs after attending our events to learn the value of dogs.
Ending the dog and cat meat trade is not simple. It's a hard battle and we have to fight it strategically. Duo Duo Project's strategy is to create a positive presence in Yulin 365 days a year.
This year is our 10th anniversary. Thank you for staying with us and being a part of this "End the Dog and Cat Meat Trade" movement for so long.
P.S. If you haven't yet, please check out what we have achieved in the last 10 years.
