SAVE OUR REGISTRY OFFICE FROM CLOSURE AND STOP IT BEING SOLD OFF
The Issue
I passionately believe in adapting historic buildings to new uses is inherently sustainable and makes sound economic and environmental sense, not least by reusing the embodies energy they contain, and many people have been married here, and had their Births, Deaths registered.
No more bookings are being taken after August 2015.
Definition of a listed building, in the United Kingdom, is a building that has been placed on the Statutory List of Buildings of Special Architectural or Historic Interest. This former King Charles 1 School site which is now our Births, Deaths and Marriages Office.
Today it seems inconceivable that spectacular buildings such as our Registry Office and former King Charles 1 School site is now being put up for sale by Worcestershire County Council.
Our Registry Office for the town of Kidderminster, Worcestershire, England. As such, it is a designated venue for the performance of civil marriage ceremonies.
This listed building was formerly part of King Charles 1 School. The wedding room is over 30 feet (9.1 m) high, and has a beamed and vaulted oak ceiling, oak paneled walls and stone-mullioned high arched windows.
We need to save this building from its pending doom and try and retain it as our Births, Deaths and Marriages designated area.
