The Issue

Dear Families Residing in and healthcare providers working in Worcester, MA,

As part of our “Health Towns, Healthy Children” campaign, we are asking for your help to raise the tobacco and nicotine delivery systems (electronic cigarettes) purchasing age to 21 in our town. Given the growing evidence of brain and nicotine addiction, we know the longer we delay nicotine use, the less likely a person is to become addicted. Studies have shown that 90% of lifetime smokers began smoking before the age of 21. After 21 years of age there is only a 2% chance that when a person initiates they will become addicted.

Tobacco related diseases are the number 1 preventable death in America today. Cities and towns that have participated in our Tobacco 21 campaign and raised their purchasing age to 21 near you are; Marlborough, Framingham, Northborough, Southborough, Hudson, Ashland, and Boston. A total of 101 MA cities and towns have joined Tobacco 21, covering 2.95 million citizens, with many more cities and towns considering!

Please sign the attached petition, if you are from Worcester! If your spouse agrees with this, please have them add their name too!!

If you're a healthcare provider please add your title ie MD, DO, NP, RN, etc.
