2/17/22 Updates:

______________

So far, the petition has gathered over 1,600 signatures and 577 shares. Thank you to everyone who has signed. Please keep spreading the word.

On Monday morning, we emailed the leaders of WPI. We received a response from President Laurie Leshin soon after.

We will be meeting with members of administration early next week. We will post an update after this meeting.

In other news, yesterday the WPI chapter of the American Association of University Professors (AAUP) released a statement that outlined faculty struggles, asked for more involvement in the presidential search, and expressed similar grievances. A link to this statement is here.

Any update or action by WPI Advocates will be posted via our official Instagram, Change.org, and/or Reddit accounts. We are not responsible for or affiliated with any other posts, flyers, etc.

_______________

We would also like to acknowledge the work that other groups have done so far.

First, the Mental Health and Well-Being Task Force (MHWBTF) released their Phase One Report in January, which analyzed input from town halls, a community-wide survey, and social media to make recommendations. We encourage everyone to visit the link here to read the Phase One Report. We are grateful for the hours that task force members have dedicated to mental health.

Second, the student-run WPI Mental Health Committee has done amazing grassroots work in getting students involved in the conversation about mental health, planning events, and compiling student suggestions into actions. Any student who is interested in advocacy should check out their instagram at wpimentalhealth.

The work of these groups is essential. We cannot thank them enough.
