Woollahra Council, STOP! $28,826,432.00 for 112 car spots is not what's needed!!
The issue
Woollahra Council are developing the Wilberforce Ave Car Park without proper consultation with locals and business and it doesn't meet the needs of locals! We want to make sure this $28,826,432.00 is being spent on the absolute best solution that will meet future needs too.
Objection submission deadline is 24 February 2023. We must speak up NOW, DIRECTLY to council!
We don't want to block access to our local businesses for 2-3 years (or more). Businesses who already have had 3 years of Covid strain don't need this too! They will close and we will have to go out of our suburb to shop, meet and chill.
We want Woollahra Council to:
- pause further action on the DA
- immediately implement the parallel parking that they have been talking about since 2018 which will give 100 car spots
- consult with locals and experts to find infrastructure and tech solutions that will meet immediate and future needs
- not privatise public spaces / property
- no buildings over 3 floors in the area
We want transparency and consultation. We don't want DAs to be submitted 3 days before Christmas and a short time for feedback. Especially when we attended a meeting 10 months before about it - what's the rush?!
We want to see additional infrastructure to and from our village; a community centre in the middle of an already bustling shopping village needs to be accessible by transport other than cars. 'Village bus', transport meeting every ferry etc
We want our unique sea-side location to anchor the look and feel of all activity.
We want all development to be PLANNED + local businesses considered + locals' lifestyles to be maintained not eroded. All planning should leave the community better and proud. This DA is certainly not that.
Rose Bay is NOT the poor cousin of Woollahra and Double Bay, Woollahra Council please stop treating us like that!

Petitions are good but a direct letter is better! We have a template for you to download here too! Please consider this as well.
Please share with your neighbours, friends and family!
Together we can!
