Women's Petition for Selective Service Equality

Women's Petition for Selective Service Equality
The Issue
Woman have faced numerous inequalities in our society. As a women a common phrase I often hear is that if women were required to sign the selective service draft, they might feel differently about demanding equality. This perspective not only undermines the fight for gender equality but also implies that women's desire for equal treatment is conditional or convenient.
By excluding women from selective service drafts, we are perpetuating the notion that they are less capable or less valuable than men in certain roles. This is not true and should not be tolerated. Women have proven time and again their ability to excel in various fields, including those traditionally dominated by men.
According to a 2015 report by the National Commission on Military, National and Public Service, "Women make up about 17% of the active-duty military force...and their contributions have been critical." (National Commission on Military). Yet despite these significant contributions, women are still excluded from signing selective service drafts.
True feminism fights for absolute equality - at all times and under all circumstances - not just when it's convenient. By allowing women to sign selective service drafts like their male counterparts do, we can take one more step towards achieving this goal.
It's time we challenge this outdated practice and demand equal treatment for both men and women in every aspect of our society – including military conscription processes. Please sign this petition to support gender equality within selective service drafts!
