In Canada, the single mother immigrant went to a college to study English and paid by herself for her English second language (ESL) courses. They have not had transportation, and it has been added more difficulties for a single mother family. There was no daycare close to their home, as well as it was hard to find the available space, it has been expensive to pay for a daycare, and she could not afford to pay for it by herself. She had to walk to the college, and in the Canadian winter, sometimes it was around minus 33 degree Celsius and very cold wind, so when she came to her classes, she did not feel her legs because they were frozen. In Canada, from her child was taken away his childhood, and their family has gone through the hell, systemic discrimination, fraud, abuse etc. Often the single mother immigrant, as many other single mothers in Canada, had to go hungry in order to feed her child as best as she could etc. At some point, she almost fainted from starvation. It has been very hard to survive in Canada without help, and British Columbia has been the worst province for children and women.
“Children in lone-parent families in BC have consistently suffered much higher poverty rates than their counterparts in couple families. For the past sixteen years (2000–2015) approximately half of all children in lone-parent families [among them their family] in BC have lived in poverty. In 2015, the child poverty rate for children in lone-parent families (47.7%) was more than four times the rate (11.2%) for their counterparts in couple families" (FirtCall BC Child and Youth Advocacy Coalition, 2017, p. 13). 84% of lone-parent families are led by a single mother (Sandberg, 2017). Despite both her and her child have worked/studied very hard, they have been in that situation and their lives have been ruined thanks to the brutal discrimination /Human Rights/Women’s Rights violations. It is very wrong.
She studied at UNBC’s Northern Collaborative Baccalaureate Nursing Program. It is as 24/7 study/work program. It takes many years of hard study to get a registered nurse degree. The chair of UNBC School of Nursing and a few other employees of UNBC have very much disliked the facts of her being an immigrant ESL student and a single mother, so they horribly discriminatory/unjustly opposed to receive her UNBC registered nurse degree and her registered nurse job in Canada to become a self-sufficient member of Canadian society and give her child a better life. They have deliberately ruined their lives by the ongoing discrimination/racism/fraud/abuse/persecution etc. and inhumanly refused her nursing degree the day before her graduation putting her also into the huge student dept, which is very wrong.
Lawyers were the only way by which UNBC students could get at least some justice. To my best knowledge, it was a Caucasian, Canadian born, female UNBC nursing student from a middle-income family who was the last person somehow managed to hire a lawyer to defend her rights when UNBC unjustly failed her UNBC nursing course after which UNBC cancelled the right for its students to have a lawyer during her/his appeal at UNBC’s Senate because the lawyer threatened that chair of UNBC School of Nursing and others that they could lose their licenses. Even when that right to have a lawyer existed at UNBC, only very few unjustly failed by UNBC students could afford a lawyer to come for their appeal at UNBC ‘s Senate. UNBC has ruined many people’s lives/families, which is very wrong.
Some Indigenous women forced to sterilization is one of other examples of genocide in Canada. Beside it is also the violations of Women’s Rights/Human Rights, in such way is also exterminated families. Residential schools in Canada is another shameful example of education in Canada and genocide of families, culture, and nation. Aboriginal children were taken away from their families for many years and were sent to the residential schools, where they were forbidden to speak their language and practice their culture, were abused etc.
Many British Columbians/Canadians who are victims of discrimination and cannot afford a lawyer or lawyers have experienced devastating consequences due to the violations of their Human Rights.
Stand Up for Justice and Human Rights/Women’s Rights in British Columbia/Canada
