Sexual violence impacts us all. The pain is often reflected in the faces of the people you see every day at your job, in the community, and even within your family. Studies show that one in four women and one in six men are sexually abused by the age of 18 while every 73 seconds someone is sexually assaulted.

Each and every day, our community turns a blind eye to sexual violence happening next door, one cubicle away, or even in one’s own home.

For your children, family, friends, coworkers, and community, join Brave Step and become a Changemaker on this important subject. Once a Changemaker, you will be provided the tools you need to support one another and help prevent future sexual violence.

The Brave Pact

On this day, I enter The Brave Pact with myself, my loved ones, my workplace, my community and Brave Step to courageously recognize the prevalence of sexual violence, learn about its complexities and solutions, and take bold action to shape a strong, supportive community.

1. I WILL no longer turn a blind eye to the overwhelming population and long-overdue needs of those impacted by sexual violence.
2. I WILL embody integrity when the stakes are high, advocate for survivors and loved ones, and honor them with my actions.
3. I WILL value my role as a changemaker and take my commitment seriously to make a positive change that shapes a strong, supportive community.
4. I WILL take action in my life to love my family, protect them, serve them, and teach them about sexual violence at age appropriate levels so they are armed with knowledge at home and in the world.
5. I WILL treat those learning about sexual violence with kindness, respect, and compassion.
6. I WILL stand with a loved one, if needed, to begin the healing process and become an engaged individual, employee and citizen.
7. I WILL courageously work to fulfill this resolution for as long as I can. It is my commitment to take brave steps for this mission and create lasting change for current and future generations.

As of today, my desire is to stand in the gap and become a powerful contributor in strengthening communities impacted by sexual violence which includes as an individual, a loved one, in the workplace and community, and beyond. It is my duty and privilege to foster brave conversations about sexual violence and fulfill my role as a courageous changemaker.
