Students must be able to apply for and receive cash refunds for their purchases of on-campus housing and meal plans. Due to Western Kentucky University moving to all online classes for the rest of the Spring 2020 semester because of COVID-19, students were forced out of their dorms. They were told purchases of housing and meal plans made for this semester would be pro-rated onto student accounts for next semester. However, students were relying on those purchased meal plans, meal plan dollars, and dorm rooms to pay for their food and housing during this spring and may not be able to pay for these life-essential basic needs as they had already paid WKU for these services. Purchases of meal plans  (including the mandatory minimum of $300 meal plan dollars) and housing should be directly reimbursed so students can pay for those necessities NOW. Students must be able to apply for and receive cash refunds.
