Alter Adventurer's League's PHB+1 Rule

Alter Adventurer's League's PHB+1 Rule
The Issue
Wizards of the Coast,
Through my time playing Adventurer's League, I have found a great deal of enjoyment in having a character that is portable and official.
However, I have repeatedly seen unrest regarding the PHB+1 rule ingrained into 5e. In regards to this, I recommend the following change to be released in parallel to the overhaul occurring in Season 8: please remove races and subraces from PHB+1.
Simplification. When scrutinized, this rule does nothing for simplification at the table. With up to seven players, DM's are still expected to know details from every book. PHB+1 does nothing to help the DM.
Abuse. If you were to ask any veteran gamer what makes a broken character, the typical answer will be multiclassing and magic items. PHB+1 is necessary to curb this abuse of the system, but should not prevent players from playing the new races released in the many books that are being released.
Creativity. Allowing players more access to character creation options will make them excited to buy new books and create new and unique characters. Races and classes that seem designed to work together will be unlocked for play in AL. The core of roleplaying games lies in creativity; anything you can do to promote that is worth it. As the rule stands, interest in books featuring races, such as Mordenkainen's Tome of Foes, is diminished greatly.
Player Faith. Players in Adventurer's League have been asking for the removal of PHB+1 for a long time. Listening to their opinions and making this alteration to PHB+1 would restore faith in your company and make them feel like you care about the player base. As it stands, many of us feel unheard and ignored.
Please consider this change to PHB+1 and show your commitment to providing an enjoyable experience to players of D&D across the world!
