We are facing an urgent academic crisis that demands our immediate collective action. On September 21, 2026, the MAKAUT administration released a notification (Ref No: MAKAUT/RE-073/403) that fundamentally changes the Continuous Assessment scheme, introducing a highly detrimental rule known as the End-Semester Continuous Assessment (ECA).

Under this new mandate, students are now required to sit for a full-length, 70-mark offline mock examination covering the entire syllabus. However, the raw score obtained out of 70 will be drastically reduced and converted into a maximum of just 10 marks for internal grading.

This policy is deeply flawed and aggressively anti-student for several reasons:

Severe Academic Burnout:  Forcing students to prepare for and write an exhaustive 70-mark paper right before the actual end-semester examinations completely derails our self-study and revision time. We are essentially being forced to take two final exams back-to-back.
Disproportionate Effort:  The mental toll and exhaustive preparation required for a 70-mark paper cannot be justified by a mere 10-mark reward.
Defeats the Purpose of Continuous Assessment:  Continuous Assessment is meant to be a low-stakes, incremental evaluation (like the previous 10-mark online CA4 format). A massive, high-stakes offline mock test entirely violates this pedagogical principle.

We are already burdened by an intense academic curriculum, and this new rule adds completely unnecessary stress and exam fatigue right when we need to be focusing on our actual university finals.

We, the directly affected students of MAKAUT's in-house departments and affiliated institutions, are uniting to demand the following immediate actions from the Vice-Chancellor and the University Academic Council:

1. Scrap the New ECA Rule:  Immediately withdraw the 70-mark offline mock test mandate and reinstate the old, student-friendly 10-mark online assessment format.
2.  Follow Syllabus Weightage:  Ensure strict adherence to the prescribed module-wise weightage during the formulation of final university question papers.
3.  Rational Exam Schedules:  Provide an examination routine that includes adequate and humane preparatory gaps between consecutive papers to allow for proper revision.
4. Transparent Evaluation:  Implement a clear, accountable, and transparent system for exam copy checking and the re-evaluation process. 
5. Official Sample Papers:  Release official MAKAUT sample question papers well before the semester exams to provide clarity on expected academic standards.
   
   Our mental health and academic futures are on the line. A university's assessment system should evaluate its students fairly, not exhaust them needlessly.
