As a lifelong member of the Democratic party, I watched the debate on June 27th in shock, sadness, and fear as I realized there is no way the President Biden I saw in that debate would be capable of defeating Trump in the upcoming election.

We all know that a next term for Trump means the term will last as long as he pleases or until he dies because he will be a dictator on day 1, as he has warned us. This situation prompts the unfortunate but necessary step of President Biden stepping down as the Democratic nominee for President in November to make room for a candidate with a higher probability of defeating Trump.

This movement is not about undermining President Biden's tenure or his accomplishments, of which there are many, rather it is a practical strategy focused on securing the democratic foothold for the next term and avoiding Trump's fascist vision for our country that he outlines in Project 2025.

We are very grateful to President Biden and the First Lady for their leadership for the past 4 years, but I urge you, fellow Americans and global citizens who support democracy in the form of human rights for all, reigning in greedy corporations and billionaires, taking immediate action on climate change, securing justice and equality for all, and promoting a strong and fair economy to support this call for President Biden to voluntarily step down as the Democratic nominee for the 2024 election
