Allow 17-Year-Olds to Vote in Wisconsin Primaries

The Issue

In the United States, citizens who turn 18 years old before the election date may vote for the President. In many states, 17-year-old citizens are eligible to vote in their state's primaries and/or caucuses if they turn 18 before the general election day in November. This is a federal law; therefore, it is up to the state to decide whether or not to allow it. Recently in Ohio, a petition was effective in securing the right for eligible 17-year-olds to vote in the spring primaries and/or caucuses. Twenty states allow it currently, so let's add to that number.

Help secure the Constitutional right to vote for 17-year-olds who will be 18 before election day and can further impact who they feel best represents them on the ballots. By passing this law, it is possible for a larger and more representative voting turn out with the new voters for the primaries and/or caucuses, in turn, generating an interest in drawing voters for the 2016 election. Please help support Wisconsin allowing eligible 17-year-olds to vote in the primary elections in the spring by signing this petition. Thank you.
