Daryl Brooks Jr had warrants in two jurisdictions and drove his vehicle over the mother of his child days before being released on extremely low bail for someone with repeat violent cases.  He was allowed to have his girlfriend who he was ordered not to have contact with bail him out for $1000.00. This was despite having two open warrants from other jurisdictions and having other open Court cases for violence offenses still pending.

Days later he drove his vehicle over small children and elderly citizens at a parade in Waukesha, Wisconsin killing at least 6 and injuring over 61 people and traumatizing a community.

The goal of the petition is to prevent something like this from ever happening again.  We demand Wisconsin Bail laws be changed to keep violent criminals behind bars.  

Had the Judicial system done a simple background check it would have been discovered he had active warrants and would have been turned over to those jurisdictions.

We demand our representative pass a law allowing bail to be denied to those with violent history.  Wisconsin law does not currently allow no bail option to be allowed despite repeat violence history.  After the tragedy bail was allowed in this case due to state law and someone started a Go Fund me page to bail the suspect out of jail!

We demand the law be changed and those being released must have a check for warrants before being released into our community.
