Road safety measures for Wingrove Road

Road safety measures for Wingrove Road
The Issue
I am a resident of Wingrove Road, near the Fenham Hall Drive crossing. On Friday the 23rd of November, an 18 year old girl was hit by a car at 16:30 in the afternoon and the driver failed to stop at the scene.
During the three years I have lived here, I have been horrified by the speeds cars reach when racing up and down our long road. You can see and hear them racing day and night. I have two young children and fear for them whenever we are getting out the car, important to note it is on-road parking. On one occasion our neighbour’s parked car was written off in a collision from a speeding car on the wrong side of the road - luckily, nobody was in the car or vicinity at the time.
This accident was always going to happen in my opinion and, as I understand it, the young girl is in a critical condition.
What does it take to get the police or local council to implement safety measures to slow these cars down?
When my husband has called the police on numerous occasions with number plates etc. He has been told there is nothing they can do... no evidence!
So why can’t budget be spent to save lives?
Unless this matter receives urgent attention people will die here.
There are a variety of measures aimed at controlling vehicle speeds and making conditions safer for both pedestrians and drivers. Of course, not all measures will suit our road, but there are experts in this field who can review the conditions and draw up a plan of action including the budget needed.
Please help get this matter some attention!
