Wingate Residents Against the Annexation of the 164 Acre Parcel on Summerlin Dairy rd.

Wingate Residents Against the Annexation of the 164 Acre Parcel on Summerlin Dairy rd.
The Issue
The billion dollar developer, Dream Finders Homes, has asked the town of Wingate to annex the 164.87 acre tract of land directly adjacent to Jesse Helms Park into town limits, in order to build a 320 unit, high density housing development. Annexation will allow for the re-zoning of the land from RA-40 to R-4, which is designed to accommodate high-density housing, such as apartments, townhomes, and duplexes. With enough public pressure, we can stop the town from annexing this land, which will stop the developement.
What does this annexation mean for the residents of Wingate?
- 350% increase in traffic on Summerlin Dairy rd.
- Inevitable increases in our taxes for pay for/ support the additional infrastructure.
- The clearing and development of the majority of woodland from Jesse Helms Park to the "big field" on the north side of Summerlin Dairy rd.
- Destruction of our neighborhood's rural charm.
- Increased strain on our power, water, and sewer infrastructure.
- The eyesore of cookie-cutter homes and townhomes spaced 10' apart.
- Years of construction traffic on our road
Public pressure goes a long way. Together, we can stop this annexation.
