Bypass Avebury Stone Circle!

Bypass Avebury Stone Circle!
The Issue
The A4361 (Beckhampton Road) passes straight through the centre of Avebury. Although it might have been well-and-good some hundred-or-so years ago when there were no cars and generally far less ‘traffic’ about, that obviously isn’t the case today. Traffic passing through the village has always been persistent and consists of many heavy goods vehicles.
Many villages that can boast of far less to offer have been bypassed in order to divert the damage that heavy ‘through traffic’ brings. Avebury is so much more than a ‘just a small village with a couple of shops and a pub’ – it is unique: the site of Europe’s largest Neolithic stone circle! As a heritage site, I propose that Avebury goes to the top of your list for a bypass, in order to be protected from further potential damage and to restore harmony (and peace) to this ancient site once again.
