We made it! After 2 weeks, our petition against the ETRO has reached 1000 signatures. Thanks so much to each and every one of you for making your voice heard in opposition to the ill thought-out Experimental Traffic Regulation Order (ETRO) to be implemented in Salisbury this autumn.
And what a fortnight it's been!
The petition was featured in the Salisbury Journal today, hot off the heels of its appearance on BBC South Today last night. We've received the backing of a number of Salisbury City Councillors. We've given individuals and businesses alike the chance to make their views on this scheme clear.
What the last 2 weeks have proven is just how strongly residents of Salisbury feel about the imposition of these preposterous plans to cut off the city centre to through traffic and, hence, cause more bottlenecks on the A36, not to mention clog up the rat runs that already exist in the outskirts of Salisbury.
We implore Wiltshire Council - don't make this fatal mistake for our city. Don't kill off our chance at recovery by diverting the 53% of traffic which travels through town onto the ring road. Don't force residents, commuters, daytrippers, and holidaymakers alike to endure hours-long traffic jams when trying to make their journeys to and around our city.
This is just the beginning. First we must stop the ETRO, but next we must resolve the road network issues that have blighted Salisbury for far too long.
It's time to #KeepSalisburyMoving, now and in the future.
Thank you!
