Good morning,
This letter is an update on a potential disc golf course within Tredyffrin Township. The Tredyffrin Township Park & Recreation (P&R) Board and I have been working together over the past year to expand the existing (4-hole) Disc Golf course at Wilson Farm Park. Unfortunately, the initial approval was later rescinded due to Environmental Advisory Committee (EAC) concerns. The EAC believed another location may be more suitable, and requested the Disc Golf project explore alternatives.
Following a due diligence review of township owned properties, two township parks were identified as suitable locations. These are Mill Road Park and Cedar Hollow Park. In February 2023, the EAC asserted they had no concerns utilizing Mill Road Park for disc golf. However, the P&R board has requested more information, including conceptual course layouts, materials cost estimates and plans on potential fundraising. Once the P&R Board is satisfied with the requested information, the proposal for a disc golf course would go to the Tredyffrin Township Board of Supervisors for review and final approval.
At this time, layouts for 9-hole courses (with potential expansion to 18-holes if the initial course is deemed successful) are being drafted for both Mill Road Park and Cedar Hollow Park. Based on budgetary information from other disc golf courses installed by volunteers in Chester County over the past few years, materials for a 9-hole course are estimated at $8,000 to $10,000. This leaves only plans for fundraising. Based on the recent township approval for a bicycle pump track that was partially funded, I believe the township would be more likely to approve disc golf if it were partially funded at the time of review. As such, I ask that you consider helping fund this project.
I have begun working closely with the 501(c)3 Non-Profit Chester County Disc Golf (CCDG) which have agreed to raise the funds though their organization. I am asking for you to donate whatever you feel comfortable with ($25 for each signature we received in favor of the project would 100% fund the course). These funds will be used to purchase materials for a new disc golf course within Tredyffrin Township. In the case that Tredyffrin Township rejects the proposal after another two years of petition, the funds will then go to the installation of another disc golf course in Chester County. You have two options for donating.
