To the Wilmette Park Board Lakefront committee and larger Park District Board:

Please STOP unnecessary spending, unsolicited expansion and monetization, unwelcome destruction of mature trees and unwarranted lack of commitment to what’s best for preserving quality of life for Wilmette village residents. 

To Wilmette residents:

Unlike the 2015 Wilmette Park District Lakefront referendum presented to Wilmette residents for approval or disapproval, the WPD’s further redevelopment plans for Gillson Park and Lakeview Center will NOT be voted upon by residents. Since the WPD does not intend to borrow money (which triggers the need for a referendum), the WPD intends to pay for these plans by including them as Capital Improvement items in its annual budget for years to come.

So you, a Wilmette resident and taxpayer, must let the WPD know how you feel about their plans to spend millions of your taxpayer money developing, building and pouring more concrete in Gillson Park and Lakeview Center, while destroying environmentally beneficial and splendid mature trees.

The Park Board, our elected officials, must listen to the residents. PLEASE TAKE ACTION NOW AND SIGN OUR PETITION.
