Today, the Estee Lauder Companies issued a statement to Women's Wear Daily regarding our employee generated petition to have Ronald Lauder removed from the company board:
"In response to the petition, the beauty group issued a statement, saying: 'Our employees are the heart and soul of this company. This week, several employees asked whether a single member of the Lauder family and our board represents the views of our company. The answer is ‘no.’ While we respect everyone’s right to make their own political decisions, no single individual represents the views of our company. As a company, we stand firm on the values in which we were founded: respect, equality and inclusion.'”
This is nearly identical to William Lauder's statement during yesterday's NOBLE Town Hall. As written in our petition and letter to William Lauder, the public believes (and we believe) that supporting a company by purchasing its products is akin to supporting the leadership of that company and their values.
We must continue to keep circulating this petition for visibility to all Estee Lauder Companies employees, and continue to send direct e-mails to William Lauder and the company. At this time our petition has 1,486 signatures. We need more.
The company's response will not be accepted.
