The revelation of Will Byers as gay in episode 7 of season 5 is an important moment of representation and courage. We cannot allow this progress to be overshadowed by homophobia and so-called “jokes” that target queer characters and, by extension, the community they represent. No matter who you ship or which fandom you belong to, it is everyone’s responsibility — especially that of creatives — to speak out against this behavior and ensure that stories like Will’s are treated with respect, dignity, and humanity. Do not let the homophobes win.
