In our community there are many foxes that have taken up residence in backyards. These fox families have not done any harm but they are being trapped and killed in a gas chamber just for being in our community. The mother and father foxes of one of the families have been killed along with their 6 kits!! It is legal for the traps to be set but it is illegal to relocate a fox due to fear of rabies. A cat or dog is just as likely to have rabies as the foxes that are being trapped are. The foxes have showed no signs of illness but are still killed. We would like for the foxes along with other animals that are trapped to be able to be relocated if they are healthy and have not lashed out against people. Not only were the foxes killed but the neighbors could here their cries for help as they were being carried away from their young to their deaths. When a family moves to a rural area there are going to be wildlife surrounding them and just because they don't like the creatures around them does not make it okay to trap and kill them. Please help us in changing the Virginia law to allow relocation of healthy animals.
