Tel No – 07593908699 Email – mouldingmichael@gmail.com Dear Residents/Local business, I am bringing to your attention the real possibility of a nightclub opening on Warrington Rd at the Fleece Hotel in their upstairs function room. They have been given a 4.00/4.30 am license from Wigan Council despite the fact that Licensing Regulations were breached which prejudiced any consultation period for local residents. Crofters Nightclub was due to open on the 3rd July. I brought to the attention of Wigan Council that planning permission was required. The Licensing Team were set to allow the club to open and denied they were informed of the owner’s intentions despite significant advertising. The opening of the nightclub has been suspended as planning permission is required. An application was submitted but so far is invalid. However, I am told it is still being pursued. As local residents we need to be prepared for the legal consultation period which we were nearly denied. Those that live near the pub know that due to the age and design of the building it already fails to withstand the level of noise from practising and performing rock bands. It is not adequately soundproofed. There are clear concerns about having a nightclub at this end of town until 4.30 am – drunken behaviour, drugs, noise, anti-social behaviour, detrimental effect to the town centre and damage and devaluing to property. Their original advertised DJ performs in “underground” venues. There is an online petition – Change.org (say no Crofters Nightclub). Email or ring for further details.
