Save Winstanley Hall

The Issue

Winstanley Hall needs to be saved and removed from the hands of developers who have allowed the hall to deteriorate since buying the estate in 2000 and having planning permission for residential units withdrawn in 2003.

Winstanley Hall is a grade II listed building, built in 1573.  The hall itself and especially the surrounding lands would make a great asset to the community.  It's currently closed off from the public and is on the Historic England Risk Register as Category A - Immediate risk of further rapid deterioration or loss of fabric; no solution agreed

If the developers will not commit to saving the hall, Wigan Council should make a compulsory acquisition with minimum compensation.   Funding should then be sought through, S105, CIL and organisation such as National Lottery and Historic England so that repairs can be made to the hall and the grounds opened to the local community.

Please sign this petition to put pressure on the developers and Wigan Council to save this historic landmark and community asset.
