BANDERA ELECTRIC COOPERATIVE JOINS THE FIGHT FOR SH 46 WEST

We have another major voice behind this effort — and this one is a first of its kind.

On July 22, the Board of Directors of Bandera Electric Cooperative unanimously adopted a resolution supporting the funded safety improvements on SH 46 West and urging TxDOT to complete them sooner than currently scheduled.

What makes this so meaningful is who BEC is. This is not a government body — it is a member-owned cooperative, owned by the very people who live here and drive this road every day. When BEC's board stands up and says this corridor needs to be made safer, faster, they are speaking for tens of thousands of families across the Hill Country. That is a powerful thing.

The resolution cites TxDOT's own data — 550 crashes, 13 people killed, and 44 seriously injured since 2016 — and calls on TxDOT to complete every step within its control, including the environmental clearance, as quickly as possible so these life-saving improvements are delivered ahead of schedule.

This is now the fourth unanimous resolution supporting this effort, joining Bandera County, Kendall County, and Boerne ISD. It comes alongside letters to TxDOT's Executive Director from the national Motorcycle Safety Foundation and our own State Representative Wes Virdell.

BEC has also shared that it will be sending its own letter to TxDOT and publishing an article about this effort in the September issue of Texas Co-op Power magazine.

The momentum behind this is real, and it is growing because of all of you. Thank you for standing together for the safety of this road and the families who travel it.
