A National Safety Organization Just Stood Up for SH 46 West

The Motorcycle Safety Foundation — the national motorcyclist safety organization backed by every major manufacturer, including BMW, Harley-Davidson, Honda, and Yamaha — sent a formal letter to TxDOT Executive Director Marc Williams supporting the safety improvements on SH 46 West and urging TxDOT to move forward with them as quickly as possible.

MSF represents riders across the country, including the many who travel SH 46 West on their way to Bandera, Medina Lake, Pipe Creek, Boerne, and the wider Hill Country. Their letter is a national organization backing up what this community has been saying for months — this corridor needs to be safer, and it needs to happen faster.

In the letter, MSF describes itself as the country's leading safety resource for motorcyclists and states plainly that it supports TxDOT's proposed improvements — the centerline buffer, the barriers at Webster's Corner, and the rumble strips — and "respectfully urges that these improvements be implemented as quickly as possible in the interest of all road users, including motorcyclists."

If you would like to say thank you, MSF can be reached at MSF@msf-usa.org. A short note of appreciation goes a long way and lets them know their advocacy made a difference to the people who live here and travel this road every day.

This follows unanimous resolutions from Bandera County, Kendall County, and Boerne ISD, and continued engagement from state legislators and U.S. DOT officials. The momentum behind this effort keeps growing, and it is because of all of you.
