BOERNE ISD TAKES ACTION FOR STUDENT SAFETY
The Boerne ISD Board of Trustees unanimously passed a resolution on June 15 urging TxDOT to accelerate the construction timeline for safety improvements on SH 46 West. Their message is simple — students, families, and school buses travel this road every day and the January 2028 construction start date is too far away.
Board President Courtney Darter-Bruce said it directly: "The safety of our students, staff, families, and school transportation operations remains one of our highest priorities. When presented with information regarding safety concerns on SH 46 West, our Board believed it was important to support efforts that could help make this roadway safer for everyone who relies on it each day."

"My name is [YOUR NAME] and I travel State Highway 46 WEST regularly. Bandera County, Kendall County, and Boerne ISD have all passed unanimous resolutions demanding TxDOT accelerate safety improvements on this corridor. Thirteen people have been killed on this road since 2016. The improvements are funded and the engineering is done. There is no good reason to wait until January 2028 to begin construction while families, children, and school buses travel this road every single day. Please do everything in your power to move this timeline forward before another tragedy occurs."
