ROAD WORK ALERT — SH 46 WEST — MONDAY JUNE 15

TxDOT will begin installing centerline rumble strips and pavement markings along the entire 11-mile stretch of SH 46 West from IH-10 to SH 16 starting Monday June 15 at 8:30 AM.

What to expect:

One-lane, two-way traffic with a pilot car
Work runs June 15 through June 18 with daily closures
Delays are expected — plan extra travel time
Consider alternate routes if possible

Why this matters: These are the first physical safety improvements to be installed on this corridor. The pre-formed centerline rumble strips are designed to alert drivers who drift across the center line — the crash type responsible for the majority of deaths on this road since 2016.

This is just the beginning. The funded project that includes the 4-foot centerline buffer, jersey barriers at Webster's Corner, and intersection improvements begins construction in January 2028.

We need your help to move faster: January 2028 is still 19 months away. The improvements are already funded and the engineering is done. The only thing standing between now and construction is a process that TxDOT controls. Every voice that contacts TxDOT and our elected officials asking them to accelerate the timeline makes it harder for them to wait.
