The Issue

For over 60 years, Deerpark Crescent has been a lifeline for its residents—the backbone of our daily commutes and a safe space for our children to play. But after enduring five grueling months of construction on our street, we are faced with a new reality: our road has been narrowed without our consent.

The original 8-meter width of our street allowed for comfortable two-way traffic, ample street parking on both sides, and safe passage for pedestrians and cyclists alike. Now, with a reduced width, we are facing significant congestion issues. It’s become nearly impossible to park our cars without blocking the road, and our once spacious and harmonious neighborhood feels cramped and restricted.

Moreover, this change not only diminishes our quality of life but also increases our responsibilities. The expanded boulevards and aprons mean more lawn to maintain and a greater area to clear of snow during the arduous winter months. These are burdens we never asked for and should not have to bear.

Shockingly, no rationale or explanation was given to justify this change. We, the residents of Deerpark Crescent, never consented to this change and the information although it was provided it was buried in many documents many months ago. This lack of communication is unacceptable, and it undermines the trust we have in local governance to act in our best interests.

We understand that urban planning requires adjustments and improvements. However, these should enhance, not degrade, the quality of life for those affected. We propose a reevaluation of Deerpark Crescent's street layout, with the intention of restoring it to its original width. This proposition will resolve the congestion issues, provide adequate parking, and reduce the additional burden placed on residents.

We urge the local authorities to listen to the voices of their constituents and take immediate action. By signing this petition, you join us in demanding the restoration of Deerpark Crescent to its original, functional, and beloved state.
