SAVE KILQUADE/BROMLEY/SEAVIEW

The Issue

Residents of Kilquade and Kilpedder East are reeling from the shock of learning about the preferred option for a link road associated with N11/M11 upgrade which cuts right through our agricultural land and rural setting whilst almost taking "Garden Cottage" with it. This plan also includes the closure of the junction at Spirit Burtons. We learned about this via a public announcement. Wicklow County Council did not warn us that this was on the cards. Now we have a fight on our hands to make sure this never happens. We are uniting our neighbours who also think this road completely unnecessary. This new road is cutting through a working farm with some land planted with oak trees. The Garden Cottage dates back to 1700's and is part of Bromley Estate which is of historical interest. Heritage, ecology and livelihoods need to be taken into account here. The construction of this road will negatively impact the business and livelihoods of residents and destroy the habitats of various creatures, from rare birds to bats, foxes and rabbits. The noise and light pollution will likely tarnish this beautiful country landscape irreparably.  We are opposing the closure of the Kilquade junction onto the N11 and the development of the proposed new road across a green field site.
